Order Station does not turn on

This article describes what to do when your Order Station won't turn on, even though it's plugged in.

Updated over a week ago

QUICK START GUIDE:

  1. Check power of payment terminal

  2. Test if PC turns on (if yes, check BIOS)

  3. Use different power Brick

  4. Check all wires are in on/off switch

  5. Check fuse in on/off switch

  6. Replace on/off switch

STEPS EXPLAINED:

Step 1. Check power of payment terminal

Check whether the PIN Terminal has power. If it does, this means that the Order Station is getting power, but either the screen or the internal PC is not getting power, or that the screen is not connected with the HDMI cable.

Opening up the Order Station:

  • Order Station Desk:
Remove the 2 screws on the sides, behind the screen. After that you can remove the cover on the back.

  • Order Station Stand-Alone:
Open the back cover with the key, and lift it from it's place.

Step 2. Test if PC turns on (if yes, check BIOS)

When you've openend up your Order Station, press the power button on the front of the mini-PC. If it turns on, the auto-on functionality has been turned off. If this happens, we need to turn it back on in the BIOS:

  1. Connect keyboard

  2. Turn on Mini-PC

  3. Start pressing F2 on keyboard quickly, don't stop until you've reached the BIOS

  4. Press (with finger) on tab Power, Performance and Cooling

  5. Scroll down (with finger) to After Power Failure

  6. Select Power On

  7. Press F10 on Keyboard

  8. Test if this works by turning off the Order Station on the back at the bottom and turning it back on

Step 3. Use different cabled power socket

If the Mini-PC does not turn on, there is no power going to it. Check the power cable on both ends. If it's snugly in place, you can continue to rule out the on/off switch.

Find another cabled power socket to put the plugs in that are currently in the internal power socket. If everything powers up, the problem will most likely be the on/off switch on the back of the Order Station.

Step 4. Check all wires are in on/off switch

First, check if all wires are connected to the on/off switch on the inside of the Order Station. Before you touch the wires to check, make sure the Order Station is no longer plugged into a power source. If they are not well connected, connect them properly.

Step 5. Check fuse in on/off switch

If the wires are not the problem, check if your on/off switch as a little compartment next to it where it houses a fuse. Not all of our models have this fuse. If it does, take it out and check if it's blown. If so, replace the fuse with one from your Spare Kit.

Step 6. Replace on/off switch

If all of the above fails, the on/off switch is probably broken. Replace the power switch with one from your Spare Kit or contact us for new one if you've run out. To see in detail how to replace the on/off switch, see this YouTube video:
