Sometimes when you scan your Photo Pass, nothing happens 🤷‍♂️This can be because of multiple reasons. See below what you can try!

Updated over a week ago

THINGS TO CHECK:

  1. Check if your Photo Pass has credits

  2. Check if there is a person to focus on

  3. Check if the tablet displays a red camera icon

  4. Manually trigger the camera inside

  5. Remove and re-insert the camera battery

  6. Format the SD card

  7. Remove and re-insert the USB-C cable

  8. Check the settings of the camera

  9. Camera screen has error "ERR20" or "ERR30" on it

  10. Reset the barcode scanner

STEPS EXPLAINED:

1. Check if your Photo Pass has credits

To ensure that visitors don't stay at the same Capture Tower / Box for too long, the amount of photos you can take at one certain point is sometimes limited. To make sure this is not the case, try another Photo Pass.

Tip:

You can change the amount of photos which can be taken at a certain Photo Moment with a Photo Pass. Go to your CMS -> Photographers -> change Photo Limit.

2. Check if there is a person to focus on

Often our cameras are set up in such a way, that they will only take a photograph when they can focus on a subject. Even when a person stands much too close or way too far away, the camera can sometimes ignore them. Make sure a person is in the correct position to successfully take a picture.

3. Check if the tablet displays a red camera icon

Check if you see this red camera icon in the top right of the screen of your tablet.

This means that there is no connection between your camera and your tablet (and QR-code scanner) - thus scanning a QR code will not take a picture.

When this happens, always first turn off your entire Capture Tower / Box, wait a minute and turn it back on.

If this does not work, unplug and re-insert the USB-C cable on the side of the camera.

If this does not work, unplug and re-insert all cables in the USB-Hub.

4. Manually trigger the camera inside

Sometimes the camera will not trigger anymore, even though everything seems to be connected and all icons are green. It can happen that the internal memory of the camera needs a bit of a push, you can do this by pushing the photo button on the top of the camera (you know, the one every camera has😉 ). If this does not work, check all the steps under 3.

5. Remove and re-insert the wired camera battery

Sometimes even turning the entire Capture Tower / Box can leave a trace amount of current in the wires, the adapters or in the camera itself. You can make sure the camera has absolutely no power by removing the battery, turning the off/on switch a few times, and putting the battery back into the camera.

6. Format the SD card

It can happen that a picture taken by the camera has gotten corrupted. This will stop the uploading of pictures or even the taking of pictures. You can fix this by formatting the SD card in the camera. Do this by going to the following setting and pressing MENU, finding the Wrech 🔧 icon and selecting Format Card. Then go through the steps to format the card.

7. Remove and re-insert the USB-C cable

When looking at the back of the camera, where the screen is, you will see a cable running to the left side of the camera. Unplug this cable, and put it back in.

8. Check the photo quality settings of the camera

Sometimes the settings of a camera are changed by someone, or for some reason the camera changes them by itself (it's made by people after all). Many settings are specific for the location the camera is standing, so these don't have general values. However, the quality of the photo is set to S1 so that the images don't get too big.
If your camera keeps forgetting the settings, you will have to turn it off and on again with the knob on the top. That's how Canon cameras save their settings. If you turn off the entire Capture Tower after changing settings, they may not be saved.

9. Camera screen has error "Err 20" or "Err 30" on it

When your camera states one of these errors, it also tells you to turn off your camera and remove the battery, and put the battery back in. If this does not work and the error is persistent - this means that the camera has an internal mechanical failure. Unfortunately this means that your camera needs to be replaced. Please contact us to replace your camera through chat or by contacting your Accountmanager.

10. Reset the barcode scanner

ONLY IF YOUR SCANNER LOOKS LIKE THIS:

It rarely happens that the scanner needs a reset, but as a last resort you can try this. It is important that you scan these code one after the other. So press the image, scan the code, then press the next image and scan that code, etc.
